The department of investment policy and the state support of business of the Tyumen region is created in July, 2006.
The primary goals of department are:
Working out and carrying out of a uniform investment and external economic policy of the Tyumen region;
Formation of mechanisms of the state support of investment activity in the Tyumen region;
Realisation of a state policy of the Tyumen region on the state support of business.

Functions are passed earlier to the department of the industry, investments and the state support of business have been transferred to the department of investment policy and the state support of business of the Tyumen region. According to the decision the department of the industry, investments and the state support of business is renamed into department of the industry and a forestry of the Tyumen region.
The department is headed by the director appointed to the post and dismissed by the governor of the Tyumen region. The director of the department exercises direction of the department on the basis of one-man management and bears personal responsibility for performance of the problems assigned to the department.
