The republic of Kazakhstan is included into number of the basic foreign trade partners of the Tyumen region. For 2007 the foreign trade turnover of the Tyumen region with the Republic of Kazakhstan has made 135,5 million US dollar (export of 99,3 million US dollar; import of 36,2 million US dollar).
In structure of export of goods fuel and energy resources (oil and mineral oil), the industrial equipment of different function, wood and products from it, ores (a lead waste), separate kinds of agricultural machinery, motor transport and devices, and also dairy production prevail.
In structure of import a leading position occupy lead (refined in bar), ferrous metals (hire zinced of not alloyed steel), separate kinds of the machine-building production which is let out within the limits of developed industrial cooperation between the Kazakhstan and Tyumen enterprises (blocks of automatics and control, gauges, regulators, monometers and other similar goods), woollen raw materials, fruit-and-vegetable production.

Tyumen woodworkers are ready to increase volumes of deliveries, to expand of production assortment, including furniture, plywood, splint-slab plates for building needs and manufacturing of furniture, saw-timbers and so forth.
In sphere of agriculture throughout last 4th years the meat cattle breeding actively develops. Economy of the East Kazakhstan area according to the contract from Open Society «Tyumen myasnaya kompaniya», concluded in March, 2005, have got 90 head of meat cattle of breed of «Sharole». The report about intentions on long-term prospect till 2009 provides delivery of meat cattle in number of more than 700 heads.
In the field of agriculture the exchange of experience agricultural technicians of cultivation of grain crops on intensive technology, and also delivery of seeds of long-term grasses of selection of Scientifically research Institute of Agriculture of Northern Zauralye for an accomplishment and gardening of cities of the Republic of Kazakhstan is actively carried out.
Between regions throughout a number of years active interaction in public health services sphere in granting of highly skilled medical aid is carried out. So, for example, the Tyumen regional clinical hospital provides granting of specialised cardiosurgerial the help to children with the congenital heart diseases, living in the North Kazakhstan area.
Cooperation of the Tyumen region with the Republic of Kazakhstan has received an additional impulse after the conclusion in May, 2002 of the Agreement between Administration of the Tyumen region of the Russian Federation and of the Akimat (the Government) of the North Kazakhstan area of the Republic of Kazakhstan about cooperation in trade and economic, scientific and technical, humanitarian and other spheres, the new Agreement between the government of the Tyumen region and of the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan area about cooperation in trade and economic, scientific and technical, humanitarian and other spheres on April, 4th, 2007 has been signed.
The document regulates preservation and development of bilateral cooperation on the basis of principles of mutual respect, equality and independence. One of substantive provisions of the specified agreement is assistance of enforcement authorities to development of trade and economic cooperation of managing subjects of the Tyumen and North Kazakhstan areas.
The most effective way of development of trade and economic cooperation is the exchange of exhibitions and fairs.
For last year by the Government of the Tyumen region carries out such actions as an exhibition-presentation of production of the Tyumen commodity producers in Petropavlovsk on April, 4th, 2007, an exhibition «Days of Economy of the Tyumen region» in Astana on June, 6-8th, 2007. In the first half of the year 2008 the Government of the Tyumen region plans an exhibition - presentation «Days of economy of the Tyumen region» in Astana.
These actions promote expansion and strengthening of inter-regional communications, development of mutually advantageous cooperation and business partnership between manufacturers of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Tyumen region.
Within the limits of cooperation of the Tyumen region with the Republic of Kazakhstan official and business visits are carried out. In June, 2007 working visit of the Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan from Omsk of Ashat Zharylkasynovich Nuskabay to Tyumen for acquaintance and studying of potential of the Tyumen region has taken place.
In the beginning of July, 2007 the Tyumen was visited by the assistant to the sales representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Fedorovich Chernov.
On September, 6-7th, 2007 in Tyumen has passed VII session of the Subcommittee on frontier cooperation of the Intergovernmental commission on cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. Programme of regions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2008-2011, and the Plan of measures on its realisation it is signed at 4th meeting of Presidents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan with heads of frontier regions in Novosibirsk.
