Natural Resources of Tyumen OblastOil and timber are the most important resources of the South of Tyumen Oblast. As of 1 January, 2010, 35 oil fields have been prospected and registered in the state balance.Total area of Tyumen Oblast’s forests makes 11,4m hectors (71% of the territory of the South of Oblast) with total timber reserves of 922,5m cubic metres. Potentially available annual volume of wood harvesting accounts for 16,1m cubic metres. Large reserves of peat and sapropel are promising for agriculture. Peat deposits are valued at 2,6b tonnes. There are also reserves of building raw materials. 41 deposits of medicinal mineral water have been discovered here total reserves of which make up 23,6m cubic metres per 24 hours. NewsOn Friday November 15, 2011 a cooperation agreement between the Tyumen region Government and Association of light industry enterprises was signed by the Deputy Governor Vladimir Mazur and the Association President Dmitry Petrovsky, reported the Department on investment policy and state support of entrepreneurship.
